Here at Sarnfaen Holiday Park, part of Pritchard Leisure we’re committed to providing both a five-star guest experience and a forward-thinking, sustainable approach to our operations.
Our ethos toward sustainability, particularly actions and values concerning the protection of our natural environment and embracing our local communities, sits at the forefront of our small family enterprise, and continuously influences how we operate our business.
As part of our ongoing dedication to environmental responsibility, we are thrilled to announce the installation of a 40kW rapid electric vehicle (EV) charger earlier this year, marking another step towards ensuring our park is more sustainable and accessible to the growing number of eco-conscious visitors.
Our special thanks goes to fellow small business The Full EV, a recent finalist of the Wales StartUp Awards, who kindly assisted us with making this project feasible and bringing it to life, and have been nothing but a pleasure to work with.

Known for having some of the most stunning natural landscapes found within the UK, North Wales is a dream destination for those who appreciate the outdoors. Barmouth and its surrounding areas are perfectly located on the doorstep to Eryri National Park in Southern Snowdonia, famous for its hiking trails, lakes & waterfalls, woodlands and snow-capped peaks – the area is also home to some of the best beaches in North Wales, such as Barmouth Beach and Harlech Beach. It’s therefore no surprise that its such a popular destination for visitors looking to embrace nature and enjoy time outdoors.
Despite the best intentions of those travelling to Barmouth and its surrounding areas by electric vehicles, there is an apparent lack of local EV charging facilities and infrastructure to meet the growing demand. This has become a challenge for visitors to the area, and the phenomenon of ‘Range Anxiety‘, which many of you might know a little too well, can often deter visitors from returning.
Many EV owners face difficulty finding reliable charging stations while traveling, particularly in more rural or remote locations.
By providing a super-fast electric vehicle charger on-site close to Barmouth, we’re addressing this gap and offering a convenient, eco-friendly option for guests to recharge their vehicles while enjoying their stay with us.
So, if you’re searching for fast electric car chargers in Barmouth or EV chargers in North Wales, look no further than Sarnfaen Holiday Park! What’s even better, you can pop into our Leisure Club cafe for a drink and snack whilst you wait.

But that’s not all. In line with our long-term sustainability goals, we are also in the process of exploring options for future solar installations, inspired by the recent success at our sister holiday park, Madryn Castle (learn more about that in this recent blog post). We’re evaluating the best locations on our holiday park and researching government incentives & funding opportunities that will enable us to harness the power of the sun to reduce our energy costs and carbon footprint, just as Madryn Castle has done with its recent solar panel installation.
As part of our ongoing business and resource efficiency strategy, we’ve been conducting a thorough analysis of our overall energy usage and consumption. This research is paving the way for a more strategic approach to how we source and consume energy across our five-star Holiday Park. By understanding our energy needs, we can make informed decisions that support our business’s net-zero goals and ensure we are doing everything possible to reduce our impact on the environment.
Our commitment to sustainability is more than just a series of initiatives – it’s a reflection of our values and our responsibility to future generations. By investing in renewable energy and reducing our reliance on traditional power sources, we’re not only supporting the planet but also enhancing the experience of our guests, offering them a greener, more sustainable place to stay.
We’re excited about the steps we’ve taken so far and can’t wait to share more updates as we continue on our path toward a more sustainable future here at Sarnfaen Holiday Park.
